So I didn't close on my house today. There were problems with paperwork not being on time to the various people it needs to get to and so hopefully I will close on the 30th!

On to better things....

Mattea is kid. No longer my baby or toddler but a kid. In the car today I was driving and she was talking on her cell phone. Here's her conversation.

M: "hello Charlie"

pause

M: "how you"

pause

M: "good"

pause

M: "play"

pause

M: "Lily"

pause

M: "ok, bye"

closes the phone
She did it several times changing out charlie's nam with my uncle's and aunt's names.

I love this girl!!!!!

I'm finally an adult

I bought a house. A condo actually. It has met all of my criteria and is in my price range. It is a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath 3 minutes from Angi and 10 from my parents. She will be in township schools and can probably walk to school when she is bigger. No sex offenders live nearby, a very big plus! I will be having to do some fix up projects but I have been offered help from friends so I feel pretty good about it.

Closing is the 22nd so think good thoughts for me that nothing goes wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Potty Training

For the last several months, I have been hounded to start potty training Mattea. Lily caught on quick and goes potty but never consistently but somehow can pee on command. Mattea on the other hand will sit on the potty (5 seconds), wipe (with half a roll of toilet paper), and then flush the toilet (without ever peeing). I say, "she's not ready" or "she's just playing." Well, we have been letting her run around naked in the evenings. Really it is her telling us she will be running around naked since she will not keep the diaper on. She sits on the potty but never pees and I can't find any puddles. I can't figure out how she is holding it for so long. Anyways, last night before bed we try going potty. Again, no pee. She just comes out squeling "pee-pee, i try!" At 3 in the morning she wakes up crying out for "boot." I don't thinks he meant a boot but I had no clue what she wanted. Well I try to get her back to sleep and she tells me she has to pee. This is usually a stalling tactic and i was not willing to stall at 3 am. But I felt her diaper and it was dry. Dry from 8:30 to 3. So we go to the bathroom and SHE ACTUALLY PEES ON THE POTTY. ALOT!!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted to jump up and clap and sing and everything you are supposed to do but again it was 3am. So I hugged her and did a little yeah (curtosey of Jen). She was so proud of herself but the crappy part was she doesn't even remember it to tell her Oma. But I did!!!

Cute story!

So I have a cute story to share. The other day Angi was giving the girls a snack. Typically if the snack the girls are sharing is cheese Mattea gets the bigger half and if it is sweet Lily gets the bigger half ( Lily needs to eat something right!) Anyways, I think it was a cookie the girls were sharing and Lily's was eaten in 10 seconds flat. So she goes to Mattea "Bite?" Mattea gives Lily the teeniest tiny morsal of cookie and Lily gobbles it up. Again "Bite?" Mattea gives Lily another teeny bite ( we are a sharing family, you know). Again Lily gobbles it up and ask for another bite, Mattea looks at her cookie and looks at Lily and finally catches on and stuffs the whole thing in her mouth. I think Lily was a little dejected that Mattea finally got a clue ;-)

Pictures

Just born baby boy!!!

He has a long torso just like his mom and his dad's ears ;-)

Finally off oxygen and able to get dressed!

His happy cousin in the waiting room!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's Here

Me and Mattea are the proud aunt and cousin to Zephram Alexander Ellegood who was born
10/20/08, weighing 8lbs 8 oz, and 19 inches long. He is super cute and had a head full of brown hair, but not as much as Mattea. He had to be on oxygen for about 2 hours and we were not given the go ahead to hold him before I left so my arms are still aching. Nina is doing great and breastfeeding went well also. The funny thing was that my mom kept calling him "my sweet girl" and had to keep apoligizing since he was a boy. We all have to get better at it!!!

Ice Cream

As Lana, Beth, and Steph know from pizza night, Mattea loves ice cream. She doesn't get it often so she savors it and it is her favorite treat. When the pic was taken she was savoring her ice cream cone (the kiddie cone at McDonald's) and Lily, who has a major sweet tooth had already had her cone refilled 3 times from Charlie's big cone!!!!!!

Long time, no talk!

Some great pictures from our photoshoot

I can't even say how much I love these 2
pictures!!!!

"Happy to be Nappy" wants to post this
this picture as a homage to African American hairstyles
Mattea reluctantly sharing her banana.

Well, Mattea has no lasting problems from her shopping cart fall but now I am worried about not eating fish during my pregnancy and Mattea ending up falling short in the brain department. Another thing I could possibly say she inherited from her dad and not my lack of fish oil for 9 months!

I am a horrible mother!!!!

Yes, I'm a horrible mother. Yesterday was good. All my visits showed, one was even fun to talk to. I saw a cute little baby learning to walk and best of all I saw a chicken cross the road! Really, I did. When I picked up Mattea she yelled out Mama and came running to my car. This doesn't usually happen when she is with Charlie. I usually get a smile and then her clinging to him and crying when we actually leave. Yesterday she kept saying "bye-bye" and wanted to actually leave with me!!!!! Well the we went to CVS. This is where I became a horrible mom. I didn't want to put on her shoes so I put her in the cart. If you know the CVS carts, they're not very big and the little kid seat in front was not right so she was sitting in the cart. Well she likes to stand up and say hi to everyone. Not a huge deal usually but with a small cart I tell her to stay by the front (by me) and hold on there because it is taller. Well as I was comparison shopping for tampons, yes that's the reason I was there, I hear a big thud and see Mattea face down, spread eagle on the floor. I have see thes positiion many time on Rescue 911 and other discovery health shows and my heart dropped. I was so scared to see what I would find when I picked her up. I grab her and find nothing. Nothing, yes nothing. No blood, no missing teeth, no gooseeggs, no red marks, no scratches, nothing except some fuzz that was stuck in her hair. She cried for maybe 30 seconds and then was ok. I on the other hand was on the verge of tears and bought her a balloon, or in Mattea's language a "lu-loon." So moral of my lesson-I will stick to my regular tampons and leave the life-changing ones to Katie and Michelle. They made me a horrible mother and who knows how long it will take me to get over this. I know I want her involved with gymnastics but a back-flip off a shopping cart is not the way I planned for her to start.

Something to cheer us up (or at least it did me)!!!

So as my friends know, I have been having a very hard time with my very negative thoughts and feeling towards just about everything. I'm not articulate (I know your pain Ryan) and Jen and Lana know I just explode in rage, although I like to call it passion. Anyways it has passed and I will be back to myself next week. Until someone asks me about Palin, immigration, and a slew of other topics I can't even think of.

Annoying

Disclaimer-I don't follow politics too closely, I pick who I like and don't sway so this is not for arguements sake just a small rant.

I try very hard to overlook alot of the political stuff going on, especially if I don't agree with it. But I must say I get very disappointed and sad when people don't see the candidates the way I do. I know it's not fair but it's the truth. I thought it sneaky that McCain picked Palin and I am so afraid that people will buy into it. I read on a blog that we should vote for morality which was why the blogger was voting McCain. WHAT?????? People really think that voting for McCain and everything that comes with him is a better choice because of morals, please be kidding. Obama seems to have his morality in check and a fresh idea for the future. I also think he goes to church (because seperation of church and state is really a myth) so why is he so bad?

VOTE OBAMA
-he's fresh
-he's committed
-he's not old
-he cares about women
-he can't do any worse then George W. has in the last 8 years

We need some young blood in the White House!!!!!

Supermodel

Fresh-Faced

Easy, Breezy, beautiful CoverGirl

Nice mess you made Mattea!

Brooding in her pinapple pj and trucker cap.

The many faces of a budding supermodel. She may have the face for it but she is not an actress. Movies will be missing out on her dramatic flair.

Shark bite and Puppy Dog

Ryan and Mattea

Me and Mattea

Nice view of her shark(Lily) bite!

Still very focused on the dog

Fun times at Kevin's cookout with Ryan, Jen and a cute little puppy. Mattea likes dogs and you can tell she wants to touch them and play with them but she is very scared of them. Most of the dogs at Kevin's house Mattea could sit on but she was still scared. So we did some therapy and tried getting her used to petting and playing with the littlest one (in the pics). She was only about a pound and was very sweet and we actually got her to hold the puppy.

Rock Band

At the party-I can vouch for Jen and Lana about alcohol consumption but I don't know about Steph!!

Jen, Mattea, and I playing Guitar Hero at my double qincenera-Mattea even has her own avatar*****MJ*****a kickass drummer with tats and everything a mother could be proud of!!

I took things very seriously, didn't I?

A few weeks ago we had a rock band party (sad to say but i'm addicted to the game). We had such a good time. I suck at drums, Dad was right I don't have nearly enough rhythm, but I do pretty good on bass and lyrics. I think I had 96% while singing Bon Jovi's Dead or Alive, Lana's favorite song that I made her play over again. Just so you know Lana, we will play that song forever until you can get some other Bon Jovi songs, or Aerosmith. Not some out there obscur rock songs that I have never heard of ;-)

Haircut

The towel was off before we even started
She is not happy about this!
Look at her face, not quite sure she can trust me
We're good, it's over and she is still my buddy
Checking out some of her hair on the floor.

This was not Mattea's 1st haircut but it was very much needed. I decided I didn't want to spend the money for Cookie Cutters yet so I took matters into my own hands and cut it myself. I think I did an ok job for my 1st time and with a wiggly 1-year-old. Thanks to our dancing chicken, in the pics above, which kept her entertained. I did have to do some touching up a couple days later when I realized just how uneven I had cut the back. But, all is well and luckily she has no clue what is a good or bad haircut, yet!!!

Best Friends

It has been a long time and I have neglected the blog. We have been so busy with everything that I rarely have a chance to get on the computer. I have so many fun things to share but only a limited space, so you may be getting lots of updates over this weekend, or not (it all depends on Mattea's naps). So we are going from 2 naps to 1 and it sucks. We always have 2 kids to think about so we try and coordinate the naps and most of the time someone is not getting enough sleep. But we keep on trucking. Mattea has been saying "Lily" for months and months and has never been able to say her name until this past week. Lily has been calling her "Tay-Tay" as had Jen so that is now what Mattea calls herself. It is so cute when the girls get together and say their names and some of the time they call each other by the others name.

I am also very proud of how much empathy my daughter has for others, especially Lily. When Lily cries Mattea will go over to her and will rub her back and pat her bottom just like us adults. It is so stinkin sweet. Mattea and Lily now apoligize to each other when they have hurt one another. This morning I made them say sorry and they said sorry to each other and gave a hug. It was cute and genuine-I wonder how long that will last before they start grumbling it to each other.

Lastly, since they are best friends and partners in crime it was real funny to see Mattea giving Lily a hand up onto the couch that they are not supposed to be playing on. Mattea had climbed up and Lily couldn't get it so Mattea reached out her hand and helped Lily up.
